PRESS RELEASE

OSLO, NORWAY – 23 MARCH 2023 – Circa Group AS (stock symbol: CIRCA) is bringing together leading figures from industry and academia to mark the launch of the Circa Renewable Chemistry Institute.

Today at the historic King’s Manor, the University of York will host industry leaders, innovative practitioners and research expertise to officially launch the Circa Renewable Chemistry Institute (CRCI). Professor James Clark will chair a panel, including OQEMA, Croda, Synthomer and the Chemical Industries Association. They will explore the barriers and critical success factors in the adoption of renewable chemistry. The programme also includes guest speakers Professor Boelo Schuur from the University of Twente and Dr Jane Murray, Global Head of Green Chemistry at Merck.

Based at the University of York, the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence (GCCE) has played a key role in the development and commercialisation of Cyrene™, Circa’s flagship bio-based solvent. Building on that advanced knowledge and experience, the CRCI was established in 2022 to drive forward research and seek new breakthrough products and processes, reflecting the important role of renewable chemistry in the urgent shift to more sustainable industry.

“This is an important step forward as we develop markets for Cyrene™” said Nick Smith, Head of Development and Commercialisation for Circa. “The CRCI is the logical progression of our longstanding partnership with the University of York. Market leaders will have access to expert support in application and process development, as they move manufacturing processes to safer and more sustainable products such as Cyrene™.”
